Rubies are pinkish red to blood-red colored gemstones, a variety of the corundum mineral (aluminum oxide).
Spinel is often found along with rubies in the same gem gravel or marble, and may be mistaken for rubies.
Kyanite is typically a blue aluminosilicate mineral found in aluminum-rich metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock. Kyanite presence in metamorphic rocks generally indicates metamorphism deep in the earth’s crust.
Kyanite is also known as disthene or cyanite. Normally forms in sprays of bladed crystals, and the euhedral, or well-shaped, crystals are very uncommon.
Ruby Kyanite is simply Kyanite with some ruby in it.
