Pink Sapphires occur in shades from light to dark pink and deepen in color as the quantity of chromium increases. The deeper the pink, the higher the value of the sapphire.
In the USA, as sapphires are in the same family of rubies, a sapphire must meet the minimum color saturation to be considered a ruby. Otherwise, it is a pink sapphire.
