Jasper is an aggregate of micro granular quartz and/or chalcedony. An opaque rock of any color stemming from the mineral content of the original sediments or ash. The picture patterns include banding from flow or depositional patterns from water or wind, as well as dendritic or color variations. It is normally a brown jasper with black dendritic markings. It is found in Brazil, Namibia and the USA. The ones found in the USA can be known as Biggs Jasper, Deschutes Jasper and Owyhee Jasper.
