Nephrite Jade is a variety of the calcium, magnesium and iron-rich amphibole minerals tremolite or actinolite.
Nephrite Jade is mainly gray or green (and sometimes have yellows, browns, blacks or whites).
Nephrite Jade can be found in a translucent white to very light yellow form, and in China it is known as mutton fat jade. The opaque white to very light brown/gray is know as chicken bone jade.
Nephrite Jade also normally has an “oily” luster on its polished surfaces.
