Calcite is slightly water-soluble and can be found together with quartz in sedimentary rocks and hydrothermal veins.
Calcite can also be found with dolomite in other sedimentary rocks known as dolostones. It can be found with siderite in sedimentary iron ore deposits and with gypsum in caves. Green Calcite may have malachite, giving it the green color.
