Piemontite is a sorosilicate mineral. It is a member of the epidote group. Red to reddish-brown or red-black in color, Piemontite has a red streak and a vitreous luster. Manganese causes the red color. Associated minerals include epidote, tremolite, quartz, orthoclase, calcite and glaucophane.
Epidote is an abundant rock-forming mineral. It occurs in marble and shistose rocks or metamorphic origin. It is also a product of hydrothermal alteration of various minerals, like feldspars, micas, pyroxenes, amphiboles, garnets and others.
Dragon Blood Stone is made up of Epidote with some Piemontite.
Note: Dragon Blood Stone is NOT Dragon’s Blood Jasper/Bloodstone Jasper/Heliotrope.
As far as we have found, Dragon Blood Stone is Piemontite and Epidote. The names have been used interchangeably and most of the Dragon’s Blood Jasper/Bloodstone Jasper/Heliotrope out there is marketed as Dragon Stone and it is misleading.
