Also known as Celestine, Celestite is a mineral made of strontium sulfate. Celestine and Strontianite are the principal sources of the element, strontium which is commonly used in fireworks. Celestine occurs as crystals and also in compact massive and fibrous forms. It is mostly found in sedimentary rocks and often associated with gypsum, anhydrite and halite. In some localities, it can be found with sulfur inclusions. Celestine is found worldwide but usually in small quantities. Pale blue specimens are found in Madagascar, while white and orange variants can be found in Bristol, UK.
